Douglas K. Chung, Executive Director of the Asian Center, Developed Programs for the Asian Center, Certified Energy Therapist Instructor
Dr. Chung, a professor in the School of Social Work at Grand Valley State University since 1989, has developed many culturally sensitive models for personal and social transformation through the integration of Qigong Technologies and human services. He is the author of Qigong Therapies: A Self Care Approach; Chinese Social Work in the 21st Century; and is currently writing Meridian Therapies. He incorporates the Eastern Yin Yang Theory, Five Elements Theory, and Qigong Theory with Western Systems Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Hypnosis, and the Strength Perspective into his Energy Therapy Model.

Manuel Lester Marshall, Pleasant Heart Program Instructor
Manuel Lester Marshall started Qigong Exercise, and after practice and finding many benefits, including improvement of health and well-being, he decided to become an instructor. Douglas Chung trained Manuel Lester Marshall for years, and he provided the ability to teach PQQD, Wisdom Qigong, Walking Qigong, Clapping Hands Therapy, 12 Forms, and much more. The class is held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30 here in Grand Rapids, Michigan, includes a blood pressure measurement before and after class, along with diet and other helpful hints. Please join us in this heart healthy compliment to any medical approach for cardiovascular disease.

Karen Salomon, Gilda's Club Program Instructor
Karen Salomon began utilizing Qigong Exercise for help in reducing the adverse affects of asthma. Douglas Chung then trained her to become an instructor for Qigong (Energy Therapies). Karen has been trained in PQQD, Wisdom Qigong, Walking Qigong, and much more. She currently instructs the class at Gilda's Club where she helps the persons with cancer and their loved ones utilize this technology to reduce stress, build the immune system and help to reduce symptoms such as tiredness. The class is held on Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:45 at Gilda's Club of Grand Rapids 1806 Bridge Street NW.

Ellen Chen, Instructor
Ellen Chen is a Certified Meditation Instructor of the Asian Center. Her classes "Eight Silk Bouquet Meditation" are on Saturday mornings, at the Blue Heron Academy. You will learn Energy System Based Meditation which teaches that we consist of energy systems; systems of diversity under an inter-related Oneness. By learning to sense and develop these energies, we can bolster the immune system and maximize our performance by reaching systems balance and energy unification for holistic health. The location of the Saturday Class is: Blue Heron Academy 2040 Raybrook SE #106, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. Class is every Saturday from 10:30 to 11:45 AM. Cost: $40.00 per month.
